Content Repurposing 101: Everything You Need to Know

Uncategorized • March 14, 2025

If there’s one secret to visibility that I stand by as a social media manager, it’s content repurposing.

Having a steady content repurposing flow is a guaranteed way to work smarter, not harder – and we know we all want that as biz owners who are already busy AF.

Not only does repurposing cut down tremendously on the time you spend in creation mode, but it also helps you reach so many new leads that you would have missed if you were only posting in one place.

In this blog post, I’m dishing out what content repurposing is, why it’s different from reusing your content, and how you can start doing it today with the ‘ish you’ve already created!

The DL on Content Repurposing

Did I grab your attention by promising you can work smarter, not harder, while reaching more ideal audiences? Get ready because it’s about to get good!

Content repurposing is when you take one piece of great content and dice it up into bite-sized pieces that you can share across multiple platforms.

We all know that sharing on more platforms = getting in front of way more people, and repurposing your content is the easiest way!

The goal of content repurposing is to reformat your OG content so it can be shared appropriately on all of your channels in a way that makes sense to your audiences.

Content Repurposing vs Content Reusing

Content repurposing should not be confused with content reusing – which is when you post content you’ve created in the past in the same format as the original piece. (That’s not to say you shouldn’t ever reuse your content, but there’s a time and place for it!)

Think of it this way: You wouldn’t take an entire 1,000-word blog post and share it on Instagram in one shot (and, in fact, IG won’t let you do that because it has a character limit), but you could break down that blog post into multiple posts – and even Stories!

Steal My Fav Ways to Repurpose Content

Are you spinning your wheels, trying to figure out how to repurpose your own content? Here are a few of my favorite ways! Try them this week, and I promise you’ll thank me later.

Repurpose Blog Posts/Podcast Episodes into Social Posts & Stories

Blog posts and podcasts are full of valuable information that you can use to create an entire week’s worth of social posts and Stories! This makes consistent posting to socials so easy that you’ll feel like you’re cheating the system.

Here’s what to do: The next time you write a blog post or record a podcast, pull out important parts and use them to create social media captions, Stories, text for carousel slides, and even video scripts!

Repurpose Blog Posts/Podcast Episodes into Marketing Emails

Attention-grabbing marketing emails are often shorter than blog posts or podcasts because your readers don’t have a ton of time or attention (I think we can blame TikTok for the latter).

Here’s what to do: If you’re struggling to hit their inboxes every week, use the juicy highlights of your blog post or pod episode to send a well-crafted email on the regs.

Repurpose Social Posts into More Social Posts

Let’s be so for real. You’ve put a ton of effort into social media. Make that time investment go as far as possible by repurposing some of the high-performing social content you already have!

Here’s what to do: Take a look at analytics from the past six months of posts. Identify ones that performed really well (i.e., had high engagement, views, followers, etc.) and see how you can repurpose those.

Intrigued? Here’s some inspo. Use the text from carousel slides and turn that into a Reel script. Use the caption from a Reel and turn that into text for carousel slides. Use content from Stories and create a static post.

The possibilities are freaking endless – and will save you so much time!

Helpful Repurposing Tech

I don’t want you to get it twisted. Content repurposing isn’t the “easy way out” or a quick solution that requires zero effort. It still takes work to make sure everything is tweaked and formatted correctly.

Because we’re huge on working as efficiently as possible, there are a few great AI options to help you streamline the repurposing process.

*Don’t forget that AI isn’t perfect! Be sure to add your own spin to the results so your content still sounds authentically you.
